Thailand and Cambodia agree to ‘immediate ceasefire’

Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to an “immediate and unconditional ceasefire” after five days of fighting at their border killed at least 33 people and displaced tens of thousands.

“This is a vital first step to a de-escalation and a restoration of peace and security,” said Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, flanked by his Thai and Cambodian counterparts, as he announced that hostilities would end at midnight.

With more and more tourists visiting Thailand, the tropical country has now introduced a Digital Arrival Card to create a more seamless and efficient experience for visitors. Starting May 1, 2025, all non-Thai nationals entering Thailand by air, land, or sea must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online before arrival.

On Friday, a massive 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar, sending shockwaves throughout the nation and into neighbouring Thailand, including its capital city, Bangkok. Several powerful aftershocks also followed the initial quake. According to the Associated Press, the death toll from the earthquake has surpassed 2,000, with Myanmar officials telling the news agency that this number is expected to rise.
